Alright so this whole thing started because my cousin texted me last night asking about the WBB games in Fujian. I said sure, I’ll look it up for you. Figured it’d be simple, right? Boy was I wrong.
The Frustrating Search Begins
First thing I did this morning was grab my coffee and sit down at the laptop. Opened up the browser, typed in something like “Fujian WBB schedule 2024 dates”. Hit enter. Loads of stuff came up, but guess what? Mostly useless crap. Old news articles from months ago, some random sports forums with people guessing dates, and ads. No actual official schedule.
I tried clicking a few links that looked kind of official. Big mistake. One took me to some league’s homepage, but it was all in Chinese and I couldn’t even find a schedule section. Another link was just… broken. Like page not found. Seriously? Another site had dates listed, but it was last year’s stuff! Felt like a giant waste of time already.
Getting Down to Business
After like 30 minutes of clicking around useless sites, I gave up on the search engine route. Decided to go straight to the source. I know the main team here in Fujian plays home games in a couple of different arenas. Remembered the names of the big ones. So I changed tactics:
- Started calling the arenas directly: Grabbed the phone, dialed the main number for the Fuzhou Strait Olympic Sports Center. Got passed around a bit, but eventually got someone who sounded like they might know. Asked about women’s basketball games. They put me on hold… came back and said “Try calling the sports bureau.” Thanks, super helpful.
- Turned to Weibo (carefully): Scrolled through the official team pages I knew. Pain in the ass though – sometimes team pages post stuff, sometimes the league page does it. Found one post! But it was just hype for the season start, no actual list of dates and locations. Just “Games coming soon!” Ugh. Saw a few fan groups, but their info seemed sketchy or outdated.
- Old-Fashioned Asking Around: Texted a buddy who sometimes covers local sports. “Hey man, where do they even post the Fujian WBB game times these days?” He texted back: “Honestly, it’s messy. Check the ticket apps right before games, they update late.” Not ideal for planning ahead.
Finally Finding a Scrappy Solution
So after this whole annoying song and dance – the useless websites, the vague phone calls, the social media digging – I finally managed to piece together the next few home games by combining a few things:
- A single Weibo post from the team account mentioning an upcoming game date and venue.
- Cross-referenced that date on a major ticket-selling platform (looked specifically for that venue on that day). Found the listing! Confirmed it was the WBB.
- Called that specific venue again, this time asking about that exact date. The person on the phone confirmed, “Yes, women’s basketball game on that night.” Victory! Small one, but still.
Basically, finding the Fujian WBB schedule felt like detective work. There’s no single, easy “here it is” page. It’s scattered, hidden behind different websites and phone calls, and you gotta hunt it down bit by bit. Ended up telling my cousin the dates I managed to confirm for the next couple of home games and gave him the arena names. Also told him “Good luck finding the rest – you might need it.” Feels like finding stuff like this shouldn’t be so hard, but here we are.
