Well, let me tell you ’bout them Duke basketball boys from back in 2017. That was a team, I tell ya. Heard tell they were pretty good, always on the TV. Folks ’round here were always talkin’ ’bout ’em.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this basketball stuff, but I know a winner when I see one. And them Duke boys, they sure did look like winners. Always runnin’ and jumpin’ and puttin’ that ball in the hoop. Made it look easy, they did.
The Players
I can’t rightly remember all their names, but there were a few that stuck out. There was that coach, somethin’ like Shy-er, I think. Young fella, but seemed like he knew his stuff. Folks said he used to play for Duke too, back in the day. Guess he knew a thing or two about winnin’.
- They had some good shooters, I recall. Always hittin’ them long shots, makin’ the crowd go wild.
- And them big fellas, they were strong! Grabbin’ all them rebounds, pushin’ folks around under the basket. Tough as nails, they were.
- And the fast ones, they were somethin’ else! Dribblin’ that ball quick as a wink, zoomin’ past everyone. Couldn’t hardly keep up with ’em just watchin’ on TV!
The Games
They played a bunch of games that year, I reckon. Won most of ’em, too, from what I hear. Beat up on some teams real good, I tell ya. Folks was always cheerin’ and hollerin’ when they were on. Made it sound like a real barn burner sometimes!
I remember hearin’ about some big wins. Beat them fellas from Rhode Island, and that William and Mary team too. And them Appalachian State boys, they didn’t stand a chance neither. Duke just rolled right over ’em.
Championships and Such
Now, Duke, they got a history of winnin’, that’s for sure. Heard tell they won a bunch of championships before, five of ’em they say. That’s a lot of championships, even for someone like me who don’t know much about it. Always hearin’ ‘bout ‘em bein’ in the Final Four too. Big deal, that is.
I don’t rightly know if them 2017 boys won it all, but they sure were a good team. Made folks proud, they did. Gave folks somethin’ to talk about, somethin’ to cheer for. And that’s somethin’ special, you ask me.
More Than Just Basketball
You know, it ain’t just about the basketball, though. It’s about the community, the folks comin’ together to support their team. Seein’ all them people wearin’ them Duke shirts and hats, it’s somethin’ special. Brings folks together, it does.
And them young fellas on the team, they were good role models, I reckon. Workin’ hard, playin’ together, representin’ their school with pride. That’s somethin’ to admire, no matter who you are.

So, that’s what I remember ’bout that 2017 Duke basketball team. A bunch of talented young fellas, playin’ their hearts out, makin’ folks proud. They might not have won it all, but they sure were somethin’ special. And that’s all that matters, you ask me.
They played hard, they played together, and they gave it their all. And that’s somethin’ you can’t take away from ‘em.
