Okay so I got this crazy urge to catch some Mexico pro basketball games recently. Don’t even know why really, maybe saw a highlight or something. But trying to figure out their schedule? Man, what a headache.
Where I Started Digging
First thing I did was just type into Google “Mexico basketball league schedule.” Figured that would be easy right? Wrong. Got a bunch of random stuff – old tournament brackets from years ago, some college games, even volleyball mixed in there. Total mess.
Then I remembered the league’s called LNBP. So I searched “LNBP schedule” instead. Better but still problems. Official league site popped up but guess what? All in Spanish. My high school Spanish is basically “hola” and “tacos.” Couldn’t make heads or tails of the navigation.
The Annoying Parts
Got stubborn though. Hit translate on the browser – made the Spanish into weird broken English. Tried clicking around: “Calendario” became “Calendar” after translate. But the dates were loading super slow and no team names I recognized. Saw “Soles de Mexicali” – no clue if that’s a team or a weather report.
Tried ESPN’s site thinking they’d have international stuff. Nope. Jumped over to some fan forums next. Found a few threads where people asked about streams, but nobody actually listed dates. One guy just posted “look on Facebook pages.” Ugh.
Finally Found A Way
Said screw it and went straight to Twitter. Searched for “LNBP proximo partido” (proximo means next right?). Scrolled through tweets from teams themselves. Took forever cause half were promo posts about merch sales.
Finally! Found a tweet from Fuerza Regia’s account: “NEXT HOME GAME VS ASTROS – SEP 15 8PM.” That’s what I needed! One team confirmed.
Repeated the Twitter search trick with other teams. Found Capitanes posting: “Road trip to play Libertadores on Sep 14.” Slowly pieced together next week’s big games:
- Fuerza Regia vs Astros: Sep 15, 8PM local time
- Libertadores vs Capitanes: Sep 14, 7:30PM
- Soles vs Santos: Sep 16, 6PM
Set my phone reminders right then. Way harder than finding NBA games, but at least now I know where to check straight from team Twitters instead of trusting messy websites.
