Okay so I needed the Thayer Academy hockey schedule pronto. Like, right now. Kid I coach is interested, maybe playing there next season, wants to watch a game. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong.
First thing I did, obviously, was fire up the old laptop. Opened the browser and typed “Thayer Academy Athletics” straight into the search bar. Figured their official sports page is the logical place. Clicked what looked like the official athletics website link.
Getting lost right off the bat. Landed on the athletics page. Saw news, team records, the usual stuff. But the schedule? Nada. Big tab said “Teams,” clicked that. Got this massive dropdown list of every sport they do – boys this, girls that, varsity, JV. Scanned for hockey… okay, found Boys Varsity Hockey and Girls Varsity Hockey.
Clicked “Boys Varsity Hockey.” Boom. Page reloads. Now I’m staring at a team photo, a coach bio… and where’s the damn schedule? Scrolled down… nothing. Scrolled more. Still nada. Banner thing up top had buttons for “News,” “Schedule,” “Roster”… Oh! Finally. Almost missed it. Clicked “Schedule.”
Now I see… something. But man, what a mess. Tiny boxes, dates mixed up with locations mixed up with opponents. And it was only showing the next couple of games! Where’s the whole season? Started clicking arrows trying to see past months… maybe that’s it? But it felt clunky, and I couldn’t see the whole thing laid out at once. Needed something clearer.
Remembered the calendar trick. Did this last year trying to find soccer schedules for another school. Looked around that busy schedule page again. Ah ha! Hidden in plain sight, maybe? There was a button or link that said “Calendar” or something similar? Scanned the page. Not seeing it. Then I spotted it – separate from the schedule grid. Near the top of the team page, or sometimes on the very top main menu bar, there was definitely a link just called “Calendar.”
Clicked “Calendar” from the main menu. Didn’t take me back to the athletics homepage – instead, it dumped me into a different calendar interface. This one looked more… official school-wide.
Filtering down to the good stuff. This calendar had EVERYTHING. Plays, concerts, SAT dates, parent-teacher meetings… total overload. Okay, deep breath. Spotted the filter options, usually on the left side or top. Found a box to select “Sport,” or maybe “Team.”
- Clicked the dropdown.
- Saw “Athletics,” selected that.
- Another dropdown usually appears underneath for specific sports.
- Scrolled down the list… Basketball, Football, Skiing…
- Ah! “Ice Hockey – Boys Varsity” There it is! Selected it.
- Just for kicks, clicked Girls Varsity Hockey too.
Suddenly, the crazy-busy calendar cleared up. Now, only hockey game dates showed up. Nice and clean. Each box listed the opponent, time, location (Home/Away), just what I needed.
Could finally plan. Finally saw the full season picture. Could see key matchups down the road. And now I know: Next time anyone asks how to find Thayer’s hockey schedule fast? Skip the team page schedule hustle. Go straight to the main school Calendar, filter it down to “Athletics” and then pick “Ice Hockey – Boys Varsity.” Way, way faster. Spent more time trying to figure it out than actually looking at the schedule once I found the right path. Classic website maze.
