Okay, so I’ve been trying to find a decent basketball league here in Hong Kong. It’s tougher than you’d think! I mean, there are courts everywhere, but finding an organized league, that’s a whole different ball game.
First, I scoured the internet. I typed in every possible combination of “basketball,” “league,” “Hong Kong,” and “join.” I got a bunch of stuff, a lot of it was outdated or just plain confusing.
My Search Begins
Then I got smart! I started hitting up local community centers. I figured they’d have some inside info. I went to a few, talked to the people at the front desks. Most of them just pointed me to posters on the wall, which were mostly for kids’ classes or casual pickup games.
I even tried asking around at some of the outdoor courts I frequent. You know, just shooting hoops and casually asking if anyone knew of any leagues. Some guys gave me a few names, some said they thought some leagues, that run at certain time of * wasn’t a lot to go on.
- One guy told me about a league that played super early in the morning, like 6 AM. No way I’m waking up that early!
- Another mentioned a league that was supposedly super competitive, like semi-pro level. I’m good, but I’m not that good.
Hitting a Wall (Almost)
Honestly, I was starting to get a little discouraged. It felt like finding a hidden treasure or something. I was almost ready to give up and just stick to pickup games.
But then, I remembered a friend of a friend who’s really into the local sports scene.I dug up his number and sent him a message. Fingers crossed, he might have some real answer for that!
He replied after few hours and told me found out there are few basketball leagues after he did some research!
It’s not over yet, I am going to the address he gave to me, wish me luck.
