Okay, so let’s talk about this Drew Mackie hockey thing. It’s funny how names from the past pop up, right?
My Little Weekend Project
So, the other weekend, I was clearing out some old boxes. You know how it is, basement full of stuff you forgot you even had. Found an old hockey program, probably from the early 2000s I guess? And inside, saw the name Drew Mackie. Didn’t ring a huge bell immediately, but it got me curious.
I figured, hey, let’s see what this guy was all about. Fired up the old computer. Started digging around online. You know, just searching his name, looking for stats, maybe some old game highlights. It wasn’t like a super serious research project, more like falling down a rabbit hole while procrastinating on cleaning the garage.
Found some basic stuff, saw he played for a few teams. Nothing earth-shattering. But then I got this idea. Wouldn’t it be cool to find an old jersey or maybe even a hockey card of his? Like, a real tangible piece of that era.
The Hunt Begins
So, that became my new mission. Forget the garage for a bit.
- First stop: the usual online marketplaces. Typed in “Drew Mackie jersey”, “Drew Mackie hockey card”.
- Got a bunch of results, but mostly for other players or just generic team stuff. Sifted through pages and pages. It’s amazing how much stuff is out there, but finding that one specific thing is like finding a needle in a haystack.
- Checked some forums dedicated to hockey memorabilia collectors. Posted a message, you know, “Anyone got anything Drew Mackie related?” Got a couple of ‘nope, sorry’ replies. One guy asked if I meant a different Mackie.
- Thought about local places. We used to have a cool sports card shop downtown, but it closed years ago. Remember spending hours there as a kid. Shame.
Spent basically all Saturday afternoon doing this. Found a few photos, some articles mentioning him in passing. But no actual memorabilia popped up that I could easily grab. It wasn’t like I was expecting to find a game-worn jersey for cheap, but even a simple card seemed elusive.
What I Learned (Sort Of)
Well, I didn’t find that Mackie jersey or card. Kind of hit a dead end. The garage is still messy. But it was kinda fun just digging into a specific little piece of hockey history, even if it was just for a guy I vaguely remembered from an old program.
It’s weird, right? You set out to do one thing, like clean, and you end up spending hours on something totally different. Guess that’s just how weekends go sometimes. Maybe I’ll try looking again another time, or maybe I’ll just forget about it until I find another old box. Who knows.
