Alright, so today was all about diving into that Reece Robinson basketball mindset. Wasn’t planning on just goofing around, you know? Really wanted to get down to business.
Got to the court early. Always better when it’s quiet. First things first, the warm-up. Did some light jogging, trying to get the blood flowing. Then stretching. Man, my legs felt stiff. Like, seriously stiff. Took a while to loosen up.
Getting into the Drills
Then, I moved onto ball-handling. Didn’t just stick to the simple stuff. Really pushed myself with crossovers, between-the-legs, some behind-the-back moves. Lost the rock a few times, embarrassing even when no one’s watching. But hey, that’s part of it, right? You gotta mess up to sharpen those skills. Or at least, that’s what I tell myself.
After getting a feel for the ball, I started with shooting. Began close to the basket, just working on form. Trying to get that smooth release, focusing on the follow-through. Some shots felt good, clean swishes. Others? Well, let’s just say the rim wasn’t always friendly. A few ugly bricks in there, for sure.
Pushing the Limits
Then I started moving back. Mid-range jumpers. Then out to the three-point line. My threes today were… an adventure. Felt like I was launching rockets, and not all of them were finding the target. Definitely need more work there. Lots more.
Spent a good chunk of time on free throws. That’s one area I always try to grind on. Got into a rhythm. Managed to sink a decent streak. That felt good, especially after clanking so many from deep. A little confidence boost.
Then, because I guess I enjoy suffering, I did some conditioning. Some full-court sprints, defensive slides until my thighs were burning. You know, the fun stuff. Gotta build that stamina, even if it feels like torture at the time. Kept telling myself, this is what it takes.
Wrapping It Up
Finally, time to cool down. Walked it off, did some more thorough stretching. Important not to skip this part, especially after pushing hard. Don’t want to be too sore tomorrow, though I probably will be.
So, what’s the takeaway from today’s Reece Robinson session? It was tough. No doubt about it. Showed me a lot of areas where I’m still weak. My outside shot needs serious attention. But, I showed up. I put in the effort. I sweated. I grumbled. And I think I got a tiny bit better. It’s not about giant leaps, more like tiny steps. And today, I definitely took a few of those, even if some were sideways.
