Okay, so I wanted to check up on the Ireland women’s basketball team today. I knew they had a FIBA EuroBasket qualifier game against Israel and was curious how it went down. It was played in Riga, I think, which is kinda interesting.
Checking the Results
Fired up my usual sports app first, but sometimes the international games take a bit to update there. Didn’t see it immediately. So, I just went straight to searching online. Typed in something like ‘Ireland women basketball Israel score qualifier’.
Had to sift through a couple of previews first, you know how search results are. Then I landed on a few reports covering the game. Found what I was looking for pretty quick after that.
The Outcome
Yeah, wasn’t the result I was hoping for if I’m honest. Ireland lost the match.
The final score I recorded was Israel 90, Ireland 61. A bit of a gap there, looks like Israel had a strong game.
Looking at Standout Players
Even with a loss like that, I always like to see who put up a fight, who had a good individual performance. Scrolled down the page I found, looking for player stats.
Saw a couple of names pop out for Ireland:
- Bridget Herlihy seemed to have a monster game, actually. The report mentioned she scored 27 points. That’s huge. Also saw she had 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Really filled the stat sheet.
- Sarah Hickey was another one mentioned. Looked like she got a double-double, which is always solid. Found her stats listed as 13 points and 10 rebounds.
So, tough loss overall, but definitely some strong efforts from individual players on the Irish side. Always interesting to track these games.
